Access, Storage & Airstrip Checklist:

 

  • Access to the airstrip is appropriate for loaded vehicles, graded & shingled to a safe standard.

 

  • All access ways to the storage bin are clear & level, graded as necessary & free from long grass & weeds.

 

  • There is sufficient room for trucks to turn without damaging the aircraft operating area, the aircraft loading area is flat & smooth.

 

  • The storage bin is dry & has a waterproof cover or roof.

 

  • The client or his or her agent will be on hand to ensure the fertiliser is covered after delivery.

 

  • The airstrip surface has been checked for soft or wet areas, debris, potholes, rabbit holes & stock damage (cow pats & other surface irregularities).

 

  • The grass on the airstrip is short.

 

  • All stock has been removed for the 14 days prior to airstrip use.

 

  • The strip has been checked by driving over it at 80 km/h.

 

  • The airstrip is completely free of obstacles 15 meters either side of the centre line.

 

  • The flight path is clear of any hazard including fences, wires & trees.

 

  • No known drones are operating in the area.

 

  • All fertiliser is to be dry, free from lumps & foreign objects & free flowing.

 

  • All chemicals supplied by the client are to be within used by dates, in an unopened sealed container with original labels attached & to be approved for aerial application.

Down to the Wire:

Wires kill pilots. Please let me know if you have any unmarked wires or power lines on your property & remind me on each return visit. Please have electric fence wires down & not spanning gullies. These are almost impossible to see at 140mph. Please see photo below  

When spraying I fly very low at times so, if you have a wire 10 feet above a fence it can make my day a very bad one!
